Artists

The International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2011 will be supported by Mihaela Martin (violin) and Frans Helmerson (cello), who will accompany the semi-finalists in their chamber music performances.

For the final in Bonn’s Beethovenhalle, the performers will be accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under its chief conductor, Stefan Blunier.

All Steinway grand pianos, that will be available to the participants during the competition, will be maintained by piano technician Georges Ammann.

Mihaela Martin

The Romanian-born Mihaela Martin has achieved a reputation as one of the most outstanding virtuoso violinists of her generation. She has won prizes in major competitions, including in Moscow, Montreal, Brussels and Indianapolis.

Frans Helmerson

The Swedish cellist Frans Helmerson began his musical training with Guido Vecchi in Gothenburg before moving on to study with Guiseppe Selmi in Rome and William Pleeth in London. Sergiu Celibidache and Mstislav Rostropovich also played a very influential role in his artistic development.

GMD Stefan Blunier

Conductor Stefan Blunier, born 1964 in Bern, studied piano, horn, composition and conducting in his home town and at Folkwang University in Essen.
