After a thrilling second round watched by a total of 1,452 people, the semi-finalists in the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn are now known. Congratulations to Hinrich Alpers, Jordi Bitlloch, Georgy Gromov, Ishay Shaer, Mimi Jue Wang and Einav Yarden.
The audience have also chosen their favorite – Hinrich Alpers. He will be giving a recital on December 13, 2009 in the Chamber Music Hall of the Beethoven House in Bonn to commemorate the composer’s baptism day.
The penultimate round of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn takes place on December 10, 2009 at Deutsche Telekom headquarters. The six semi-finalist will face a very special challenge, as they interpret chamber music by Beethoven together with the world-famous cellist Mischa Maisky.
They will also premiere the two commissioned works by the composers Martin Herchenröder (Trees and Rocks II) and Martón Illés (Eufóriák II for piano). Works from the Classsical Modern period are also on the program. Anyone with a particular interest in ‘New Music’ is invited to an introductory event with musicologist and journalist Mathias Nofze. He will be discussing the commissioned works with composer Martin Herchenröder from 4.00 to 4.30 p.m. on December 10, 2009 at Deutsche Telekom headquarters.
