Dr. Gero Schließ

Member of the Organization Committee

Dr. Gero Schließ, born in 1963, studied music teaching, history and education in Cologne, along with instrumental coaching and the flute. He worked as a freelancer for radio and national newspapers. From 1997 to 2003, he was editor-in-chief for music at Deutsche Welle, before heading the program director’s office at DW-RADIO/DW-WORLD from 2003 to 2006.

Since the beginning of 2007, Dr. Gero Schließ has run the newly established department of Program Projects, Promotion and Partnerships for Deutsche Welle in Bonn. This focuses on key program projects of great relevance to the image and artistic profile of Deutsche Welle, including language courses and educational programs, music programs, the development and maintenance of the radio station’s audio design, the 24-hour ‘music pool’ and DW’s cultural and artistic partnerships. Projects together with the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, roc berlin (Rundfunk Orchester und Chöre GmbH Berlin) and the German Music Council (DMR) are especially important in this context.
