Born 1992 in Cologne, the pianist Knut Hanßen is widely appreciated for his attentive playing paired with a clear authenticity. He received his training from Sheila Arnold up until his completion of education with “Excellence” as well as from Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy in a continuation certificate master class. Furthermore he completed studies in orchestral conducting under Marcus Bosch, Alexander Liebreich and Bruno Weil.
Next to giving regular concerts at several occasions and venues including the Beethovenfest and the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, in the series “Bechstein Young Professionals” and “Best of NRW” (season 2019/2020), he absolved several competitions. He is recipient of the advancement award by the LIONS Club Neuwied Andernach, the Brüser Berger Musikfestival such as Steinway&Sons Düsseldorf. More over he was honored at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb 2016 (3rd prize), the Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dini Lipatti, Bukarest 2016 (1st prize), the Karlrober-Kreiten Klavierwettbewerb 2017 (2nd prize), the James Mottram International Piano Competition in Manchester 2018 (2nd prize) as well as the Bach special prize at the International Piano Competition Rina Sala Gallo in Monza 2018.
