The decision came on 9 December 2017, when the 21-year-old Italian pianist Alberto Ferro won the International Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn. He also won the audience prize, the Beethoven House prize and the prize of the live-stream audience, convincing everyone with his command of form, structural lucidity, sensitive touch and emotional force.
