Yokoyama Ruka

Ruka Yokoyama is a Japanese Pianist. At the age of four he began his first piano lessons. In 2014 he began his music studies at Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo- Gedai) with professors Katsumi Ueda and Susumu Aoyagi. In 2018 he graduated his bachelor's degree with excellent grades. In March 2022 he graduated with highest honors his master's degree at the University of Music and Theater in Munich. And now he is a Meisterklassen student of Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München and study with Prof. Michael Schäfer.

He has won numerous awards including 1st prize in the Hupfer Tosu Piano Concours, 2nd prize in the Japan Student Music Competition, and finalist in the 18th Tokyo music competition. He has also performed many places around the world including Budapest, Leipzig, Vienna.

He was a scholarships student of Yamaha stipendium in Europe, Yamaha Music Foundation in Japan and Meiji Yasuda quality of life foundation. As a soloist he has performed with renowned orchestras, the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Geidai Philharmonic.
