South Korean pianist Yonggi Woo began to play the piano at the age of six. After he debuted as his first piano recital at Kumho Art Hall, Seoul at the age of fourteen, Yonggi was accepted to study at the Seoul Arts High School with Prof. Soo Jung Shin and Ki-Jung Han. He continued his studies with Prof. Aviram Reichert at the Seoul National University and earning a bachelor’s degree with the highest honors.
Now he studies at the Folkwang University of the Arts under the guidance of Prof.Evgeni Bozhanov. Woo has won many international competitions including first prize at the SuzhouJinji Lake International Piano Competition, Hong-Kong Asia Open Competition, the second-place winner in the Seoul International Music Competition, Semi-Finalist of the Geneva International Music Competition. His numerous awards include first prize at the KBS KEPCO Music Competition, Ewha Kyunghyang Concours, Köhler-Osbahr-Stiftung Competition and Folkwang Preis.
