Yaara Tal was born in Israel. She gave her first concert at seven years old. As a young adult she has been fostered by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and has studied piano with Arie Vardi and composition with Abel Ehrliche and André Hajdu at the Rubin Music Academy in Tel Aviv. After graduating, she continued her studies with the help of a DAAD scholarship in the classes of Hugo Steurer and Ludwig Hoffmann at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Peter Feuchtwanger also was an important teacher to her.
Her flexible musicality has always enabled her to establish herself in different lineups and a wide field of activity stylistically. After several years of performing solo, Yaara Tal founded a piano duo with Andreas Groethuysen, which has become the center of her artistic activity.
An exclusive collaboration with the label Sony Classical has allowed the duo a series of more than 30 CDs as of today, which have been well received by international audience and press and awarded with several prizes (ten German Record Critics Awards, five Echos and the Cannes Classical Award) and have enriched the music market with several first recordings. The focus of their releases lies on the recordings of the complete works of Franz Schubert and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
In the fall of 2014 the first solo CD by Yaara Tal with Haydn‘s „Sieben letzte Worte“ was released. In August 2017 the album „Polonaise“ followed with works by Franz Xaver Mozart and Chopin. In August 2019, Yaara Tal released her third solo CD „Love?“, with works from the cosmos of Clara Schumann. All pieces are dedicated to members of the Schumann family, including the so called „Alt Rhapsodie“ by Brahms in a new lineup for male voice (Julian Prégardien), women‘s choir (BR choir) and piano.
