Born in Taipei, Taiwan, pianist Shih-Wei Huang has been hailed by audiences and critics as an artist of poetic insight and deeply expressive sound.
She completed a Bachelor of Music degree at the Curtis Institute of Music, a Master of Music at Yale University, and Meisterklasse at Hochschule für Musik und Theater, München. She has studied with Hung-Kuan Chen, Claude Frank, Konstantin Lifschitz, Matti Raekallio, Antti Siirala and Ruth Slenczyska.
As a recipient of many honors and prizes, she has performed internationally in the United States, Europe and Asia in many of the finest music venues since the age of 12, including the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Flagey Studio 4 in Brussels, Conversationshaus in Norderney, Davis Concert Hall in Fairbanks and National Concert Hall in Taiwan.
She has performed with the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kodaly Zoltan World Youth Orchestra, Voice of Spring Symphony Orchestra, NTSO in Taiwan, Taiwan Philharmonic and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra in Philadelphia. She has appeared at chamber music recital with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She currently resides in Switzerland.
