Yunjae Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea on 2 October 1993. She began studying the piano at the age of Four and gave her debut recital aged eleven and this was followed by her concerto debut two years later. She won the Manchester International Piano Competition (2nd Prize) and the International Chopin Competition Japan (2nd Prize). She was furthermore awarded with several prizes in Korea.
At the time of the competition, Lee was a student at the Korea National University of Arts (Young Student) under Daejin Kim and she studied at Yewon School andSeoul Arts Highschool.
From 2012 to 2017 she made her Bachelor in Universität der Künste Berlin under Elena Lapitskaja and Sorin Enaschescu. Since 2017 she is studying Master at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold under Alfredo Perl. Furthermore she took master classes with Arie Vardi, Bernd Goetzke, John O’Coner, Markus Groh and Dimitri Baschkirov. She has given many Concerts in Germany such as the New year Concert with Wolf-Ferrari-Ensemble. She also works as a chamber musician and Lied accompanist.
