Georg Kjurdian was born in Riga in 1994. In 2012 he graduated from the Emīls-Dārziņš Music High School, where he received not only piano lessons but also composition lessons with Pēteris Vasks. In the summer of 2016, he completed his Bachelor's degree at the Robert Schumann Hochschule (class of Prof. Barbara Szczepanska). Since October 2016, he has been studying in the Master's program at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen/Duisburg (class of Prof. Hisako Kawamura) and since October 2019, he has been studying in the "Certificate Year" program at the Münster University of Music (class of Prof. Arnulf von Arnim).
During his studies, Georg Kjurdian was awarded as a prize winner of many national and international competitions and received many scholaships, including the ‘Gen Re Förderstipendium’ 2014 for young soloists, the 19th International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition (Leipzig, 2014, 3rd prize, audience award), the Carl-Heinz Illies-Förderstipendium of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben (2015), the International Bachelor Piano Award (2016, 1st prize) and at the Köhler-Osbahr Competition (2017, 1st prize). His concert activities have taken him to concert halls such as the Robert-Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf, the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig and ‘Die Glocke’ in Bremen. Georg Kjurdian plays a lot of new music and has participated in several world premieres.
