Hinrich Alpers completed his studies at the Musikhochschule Hannover in Germany and at the Juilliard School in the United States. Invitations took him to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Ruhr piano festival, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Beetho-ven Festival in Bonn. He played in concert halls as the Berliner Philharmonie and the Gasteig Munich, as well as various radio and television stations. Alpers won numerous awards, including first prize at the 3rd International Telekom Beethoven Competition in Bonn 2009, the 1st prize of the Concours Grieg 2004 in Oslo, as well as awards at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition 2006. Hinrich Alpers currently holds a teaching position in piano, improvisation, and music theory at the Institute of Early Musical Development for musically talented children at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. He has been a Steinway Artist since 2007.
