Jingge Yan

The Chinese pianist Jingge Yan is known for his intellectual depth and the expressive liveliness of his playing. As the first prize winner of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition out of China, Jingge Yan regularly performs as a soloist in major concert halls in Europe, Asia and America. He is praised worldwide for his wonderfully profound and philosophical interpretation of Beethoven’s piano works.

Jingge Yan also appears frequently as a guest pianist with international orchestras, such as the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the Musica Viva Orchestra Moscow and the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen. In 2013, Jingge Yan recorded his first CD with late piano works by Beethoven (“Diabelli Variations” and Bagatelles), which received the highest praise from the international press and critics. As an enthusiastic interpreter of Beethoven’s music, Jingge Yan began recording all 32 piano sonatas at the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn in 2016, becoming the first Chinese pianist in history to record all of Beethoven’s sonatas. In 2015, Jingge Yan was appointed by the city of Bonn as the first ambassador of the Beethoven-Haus and Beethovenstadt Bonn and has since been committed to the musical education of youth and artistic communication between Europe and China. Jingge Yan also works as a music journalist and writes articles and reviews for Chinese and international publications.

In 2023, he will be a member of the selection committee that will determine in early summer 2023 which 28 pianists will be invited to the main round in Bonn.
