GyuTae Ha began playing the piano at the age of seven, marking the start of his journey as a musician. In 2012, he achieved Third Prize at the Moscow Youth Music Competition, his first major recognition on the international stage. This was followed by a First Prize win at the 2013 Asia Chopin International Music Competition, further establishing his potential as a distinguished artist.
In subsequent years, GyuTae Ha earned Fourth Prize at the 2014 Cooper International Competition and, in 2016, achieved a major milestone by winning Second Prize and a Special Prize at the Isang Yun International Music Competition. The same year, he was awarded a Special Prize at the Sydney International Music Competition, further marking his presence on the global stage.
Recent competition highlights include Second Prize at the 2023 Samson François International Piano Competition and First Prize at the 2023 Münster International Music Competition. These achievements reflect his steady progress and dedication to his craft.
Beyond competitions, GyuTae Ha has been active as a soloist and collaborator. In 2023, he released a recording of Stepan Heucke's Oboe Sonata with renowned oboist Ramón Ortega Quero. He has also performed solo recitals as part of the 2024 Kawai Concert Series in Klefeld and Langenberg, Germany, where he delivered compelling performances. Additionally, he participated in the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition and the Weimar Liszt Competition in 2024.
GyuTae Ha has performed in numerous esteemed venues across the world, including New York’s Yamaha Salon and Steinway Hall, Singapore, Seoul, Nice, Moscow, and cities across China and Japan. His performances have demonstrated both technical precision and a deep understanding of the repertoire.
An alumnus of Yonsei University, GyuTae Ha studied under Professor Young-ho Kim before pursuing advanced studies in Germany at the Folkwang University of the Arts, where he earned his master’s degree under the guidance of Hisako Kawamura. Currently, he is continuing his studies with Kawamura in the highly regarded Konzert Examen program at Folkwang University.
