The Croatian pianist firmly established his international reputation by winning the Silver Medal at the prestigious International Telekom Beethoven Piano Competition 2023 in Bonn. He was also awarded the special prize for the best interpretation of a work by Robert Schumann. In 2021, he won the Silver Medal at the International Piano Competition in Cleveland, USA.
His competition record is impressive: First Prize at the 20th International Santa Cecilia Competition in Porto (2018), First Prize at the IMF Competition in Paris (2018), as well as First Prize, Composition Prize, and Audience Award at the Isidor Bajić Piano Competition in Novi Sad (2016) are among his notable achievements.
Lovre Marušić received his first piano lessons in his hometown of Omiš from Rozarija Samodol. At the invitation of renowned Russian pianist Natalia Trull, he continued his studies in 2006 at the Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, graduating in 2011. He then studied at the Zagreb Academy of Music, first with Ruben Dalibaltayan and later with Ljubomir Gašparović, with whom he also graduated. For his postgraduate studies, he moved to the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar, joining the class of Grigory Gruzman.
As a soloist and chamber musician, Marušić is in high demand internationally. He has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television, the Symphony Orchestra of Vojvodina, the Belgrade Symphony Orchestra, the Irkutsk Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Split. He is also active in chamber music, collaborating with ensembles such as the Escher String Quartet (New York), the Beethoven Trio Bonn, and the Zagreb and Split Soloists.
For his exceptional academic achievements, he received both the Rector's and Dean's awards from the University of Zagreb.
His artistic engagements have taken him to festivals and concert series in Croatia, Italy, China, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Austria, Germany, Portugal, France, and the USA. For several years, he has been a professor of piano at the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music in Klagenfurt and also serves as Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Festival "Ostinato" in Omiš.
In the 2023/24 concert season, Lovre Marušić toured extensively in China, performed with the Slovak Philharmonic under the baton of Daniel Raiskin, and appeared at renowned festivals in Italy, Slovenia, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Croatia. The 2024/25 season includes recital debuts at festivals in Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, and Italy, concerts with the Zagreb Philharmonic, and two China tours with Simon Zhu and Yuri Revich. Numerous additional chamber music projects throughout Europe are also planned.
